Two blockbuster matches between the Socceroos and Brazil have been locked in for Stadiums Queensland venues Queensland Country Bank Stadium and Suncorp Stadium following the FIFA World Cup 2026.
In a major coup for regional Queensland tourism, the Brazilian National Team are set to travel exclusively to Queensland with two matches for Townsville and Brisbane to be played in September as well as community engagement programs.
The international series is expected to inject up millions of dollars into the Queensland economy, in a major boost for tourism, securing Queensland jobs and putting the eyes of the world on Queensland following the FIFA World Cup.
The Queensland Government’s deal ensures Queensland will host the Socceroos’ first matches on home soil following their World Cup campaign, while also delivering one of the biggest names in world football to the State.
Games between Brazil and Australia's Socceroos will be held at Queensland Country Bank Stadium on 25 September and Suncorp Stadium on 29 September.
The Brazilian and Australian teams will also participate in community events and activities in Queensland including public training sessions, fan engagement sessions and local club engagement programs.
Stadiums Queensland Chief Executive Todd Harris said the series would allow Queensland fans to enjoy top tier football from one of the world’s greatest teams in their own backyard.
“This is an amazing opportunity to host the five-time world champion Brazil National team for the first time in Queensland, so it’s a truly historic opportunity to see one of the world’s best teams in action at both ends of the state.
“Being able to host two international sporting matches at two of our venues proves our strength and capability to attract and deliver incredible events for Queenslanders and we’re grateful to our partners for helping to ensure we continue to host the world’s best sporting events.”
Premier David Crisafulli said the Government was delivering a blockbuster Brazil Socceroos series, as part of its continued push to become Australia’s events capital.
“We said we’d bring more world-class events to Queensland, and that’s exactly what we’re doing with this blockbuster Socceroos series,” Premier Crisafulli said.
“We’re delivering a boon for Townsville with a mega-match and local club engagement, delivering an incredible tourism boost with the eyes of the world on North Queensland.
“With the ANZAC Day Bledisloe, Magic Round, Queensland Day Mega Round of Sports, the Edinburgh Military Tattoo and Bluey’s World, the major events momentum is building.
“We are purposefully building a pipeline of major events to support jobs, attract visitors and deliver long-term benefits for all of Queensland.”
Football Australia CEO Martin Kugeler said having Brazil come to Australia to play the CommBank Socceroos was a significant moment for Australian football and for fans across the country.
“These marquee fixtures are key in our strategy – to inspire our football fans, young and old, across Australia and to showcase the strength and ambition of our national teams at the highest level,” Mr Kugeler said.
“We would like to thank the Queensland Government for staging these exceptional matches in Townsville and Brisbane and for their ongoing support of our game.
“The two friendlies, against Brazil, are a great opportunity to show the rest of the world what a passionate football nation we are and to give Australians the opportunity to see one of the finest teams in the world compete against our best.”
Queensland Country Bank Stadium Venue General Manager Cameron Jones said this event will complete the trifecta of national men’s teams playing at the venue this year.
“This event will attract visitors from across the country and overseas, showcasing Queensland Country Bank Stadium to the world and delivering another huge win to the local Townsville community.”
“This event will cap off an incredible year of international sport at Queensland Country Bank Stadium, with the Wallabies, Kangaroos, and now Socceroos all locked in to play at our venue in 2026,” Mr Jones said.
