Behind every world-standard event is a team that delivers far beyond the field of play. As Queensland prepares to welcome the world for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, two of Stadiums Queensland’s rising stars have taken their expertise across the globe to Glasgow for one of the world’s biggest sporting events.
The 2026 Commonwealth Games are currently underway in Glasgow, Scotland from 23 July to 2 August and will feature 10 core sports and six parasports.
Cbus Super Stadium Event Assistant Sophie Lamb and Sleeman Sports Complex Facilities Coordinator Ella Dwyer were selected to join the local organising committee to gain firsthand insight into what goes into delivering an event on global scale.
Stadiums Queensland Venues Executive General Manager, Mirella Taylor who is attending her third Games said their selection was a strong endorsement of the skills and knowledge among the team at Stadiums Queensland.
“We're lucky across the Stadiums Queensland portfolio to be able to host a range of exciting and varied events, but tournaments such as the Commonwealth Games and the Olympics and Paralympics are just at a different level,” Ms Taylor said.
“The opportunity for our team to go over and experience everything that's elevated a little bit further is incredible, be it the security protocols, the VIP hospitality, athlete and transport arrangements or accreditation."
“Our team get to go and work for some of the best in the world and bring away some really great skills that are going to be valuable, not only to their day-to-day work at Stadiums Queensland, but as part of their career path as we look ahead to the Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2032."

Sleeman Sports Complex Facilities Coordinator Ella Dwyer said she’s thrilled to extend her skillset as she takes on the role of Deputy Accreditation Manager in the Glasgow delivery team.
“I'm ready to test my leadership skills and leading a team on such a massive scale is just incredible; Stadiums Queensland has opened up my world, professionally and personally, in so many ways,” Ms Dwyer said.
“This is such an incredible opportunity in the lead up to the 2032 Games; it's going to give me so much experience in major events on such a large scale that I'll be able to bring back to Brisbane."
“A pinch me moment was seeing the results from the recent 2026 Winter Olympics and our athletes win gold and silver, who train right here at our facilities, it was just incredible to think that I had some part in that in maintaining where they train.”
Cbus Super Stadium Event Assistant Sophie Lamb said she’s thrilled to be heading over to take on the position of Deputy Manager of Spectator Services.
“I've learned so much since working at Stadiums Queensland. I've grown so much confidence in managing a group of staff and I’ve learnt so much about how an event operates, and all the planning and delivery documentation that come with that. I'm feeling so excited for the Games, I cannot wait!” Ms Lamb said.
“I'm really excited to head over to the Commonwealth Games to keep on upskilling as an event professional, and I would love to come back here, having learnt so many different skills, and hopefully get a role in the 2032 Brisbane Olympics and Paralympics.”
Both Sophie and Ella will be onsite at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games until they wrap on 2 August, 2026.
