The Anna Meares Velodrome at Sleeman Sports Complex has been approved to host the 2030 Union Cycliste Internationale Track Cycling World Championships.
The Championships, comprising the elite, junior, para-cycling and masters events, take place in October 2030 at the Anna Meares Velodrome and will bring together hundreds of the world’s best track cyclists.
Sleeman Sports Complex General Manager Alex Hutchison said the team are excited to host the world-renowned cycling event.
“We’re thrilled to welcome the 2030 UCI World Track Championships to Sleeman Sports Complex for the first time, providing Queensland cycling fans with the opportunity to marvel at the world’s best cyclists competing at Australia’s premier track cycling facility, the Anna Meares Velodrome.
“Since its opening in 2016, the Anna Meares Velodrome has hosted some incredible cycling events, including the 2018 Commonwealth Games and the 2019-20 UCI Track Cycling World Cup and is the proposed cycling and para-cycling track for Brisbane 2032, so to add another prestigious cycling event such as the 2030 UCI Track World Championships is a great honour.”
