24/11/2025

The 2026 Rugby League World Cup draw has been announced with Queensland home to three of the eight host city destinations.

Queensland’s matches are set to draw around 110,000 people from interstate and overseas to Suncorp Stadium, Cbus Super Stadium and Queensland Country Bank Stadium.

The 2026 Rugby League World Cup will be held from Thursday 15 October 2026 – Sunday 15 November 2026, consisting of a ten-team men’s tournament, an eight-team women’s tournament and an eight-team wheelchair tournament.

Both the men’s and women’s deciders and a blockbuster fixture between Australia and Fiji’s men’s teams will be played at Suncorp Stadium.

A triple header will be staged at Cbus Super Stadium, featuring Samoa vs France (women), New Zealand vs Fiji (men) and New Zealand vs Papua New Guinea (women).

Queensland Country Bank Stadium will host a huge match as the Kangaroos take on Cook Islands in Townsville.

Stadiums Queensland Chief Executive Todd Harris said rugby league is in Queenslander’s blood and it’s only fitting that three of the host cities are in this state.

“Queensland is home to the best rugby league stadiums in the world and we’re fortunate to be able to host 2026 Rugby League World Cup statewide," Mr Harris said.

“Cbus Super Stadium, Queensland Country Bank Stadium, and Suncorp Stadium are world-class venues and we can’t wait to showcase them on the world stage as we deliver the 2026 Rugby League World Cup.”

Minister for Sport and Racing Tim Mander said Queensland was cementing its place as the home of Australian sport and bringing this world class event to multiple cities in our State is an outstanding outcome.

“Rugby league is a part of Queensland’s DNA and the benefits of not only securing the men’s and women’s Grand Final but bringing elite sporting content to Townsville and the Gold Coast, are enormous for fans and our local communities.
