Almost 2000 assets, including equipment, fixtures and fittings from the former home of the North Queensland Cowboys, have been donated to local sporting groups.
The site and existing infrastructure, formerly known as 1300Smiles Stadium, Dairy Farmers Stadiums and Willows Sports Field, and home to the NRL team from 1995 to 2019, is being replaced with a new multi-purpose emergency services hub.
Stadiums Queensland salvaged a number of useful items for the benefit of community groups, before the demolition.
The assets will be donated to local sporting and community groups, with the iconic the Cowboys goalposts being gifted to the Brothers Leagues Club Townsville.
Demolition is underway and is expected to be completed in May 2023, weather permitting.
